I’m Famous! (Ok, not really…)

Since I’ve started fundraising for the Hope Runs 777 challenge, I have been blown away by friends and strangers coming out of the woodworks to help me. Not just financially (which is great and still need more), but also in ways to promote my cause!

Here are two great examples…

Chris Russell (also @cyktrussell) from RunRunLive offered to interview me on his famous running podcast! I was totally nervous about my first live interview for a podcast but everything seemed to fall into place. (Even if I did bumble up a few times… *sigh*) Maybe good practive for live TV one day? Well, one can only hope! If you’re interested in checking out the podcast, you can either click here OR search in the iTunes Store for “RunRunLive” and download episode 63. Let me know if you listen to it one day. Again, I can’t thank Chris enough for willing to feature me. Wow!

Ethan Austin from Give Foward (an innovative giving/fundraising site) and Play City (where you can use sports to make a positive impact on our local and global communities), who offered to interview me on their Play City blog. Ethan has not only been fantastic in giving me fundraising tips and ideas but providing really great emotional support. My interview with Ethan just went live today and you can check it out here. There are pictures of me on the blog post.

Most of all, thank you ALL for being part of my adventure. I love my social network/community on my running blog, Twitter and Facebook. You make me feel like I’m not doing this alone!

Oh, a quick question... I'm totally new to the running podcast thing. Do you listen to them while you run? And if you DO listen to running podcasts, what are they? I'm looking for recommendations! ;-)

  1. I only listen to music when I run, so I'm no help on the podcast. :o)

But it's SO COOL that you're getting so much publicity for your 777 Challenge. It's just as much fun for the rest of us ot follow along with your adventures.

  9. Man I have been wondering the same thing about running podcasts.

I wish I could do something to help you raise money, I am keeping my eyes/ears open for suggestions for you.

I am really looking forward to following your journey through this thing! Not only are you going to have a blast, but you're doing it for a great cause!

  11. You're famous because you're doing a tremondous, awe inspiring thing and so sweet at the same time!

I listen to running podcasts, but not ones recorded while running - my mind can't handle all the background noise. I love 'running with the pack' and 'runners roundtable.' running with the pack follows 2 Penn state guys (so there's some Penn state love there) and runners roundtable hosts some great interviews. I bet they'd love to interview you! Self promotion, go for it, since you're a pro now!

  12. Okay, guilty as charged. I listen to like 10 or 15 podcasts on a weekly basis...that's how I heard your first interview. A good one to start out with is of course, Phedippidations put out by an avid runner aptly named Steve Runner. Then, there are a host of others. A good place to start is just looking at the list compiled at runningpodcasts.org or searching iTunes for running podcasts. They are great for listening to while you are on your long runs.

Good luck in all your adventures!

  14. I have never listened to podcasts but have been thinking about it a lot the last few weeks. I just didn't really know how to start. I follow you on Twitter and it looks like you always have something going on! It's so great that you are doing this to raise money, and I can't wait to follow you on your journey!

  16. Oohhh must go download! I used to listen to podcasts only during long runs to break up the music. But now I run with friends for the long runs so I listen to podcasts on my longish mid-week runs. I LOVE 4 feet running. It's the only running podcast that I've stuck with. Extra Mile is good too.

  17. I have listened to a few over time, mostly on long runs - This American Life, Phedippidations, Extra Mile Podcast, Running From The Reaper, B&N Author Interviews (barnes and noble), Quadrathon.... all free on iTunes baby!

  18. I rarely listen to podcasts as I never run with headphones unless I'm on a treadmill and prefer to listen to music, but I wanted to suggest that you also write press releases and distribute them to media sources wherever you go. With my 21 Run Salute campaign, I found that media coverage (running pubs, newspapers, TV, etc) is what attracted a lot of my sponsors.

  19. I like Phedippidations which was already mentioned.. I also like the Runners Lounge podcasts, and I listen to 'PodRunner' if I want some endless electronic/etc music

  20. I think if you're interviewed for anything and others read/hear/see about it, that constitutes as being famous, lol. Good job on that!
