Race Schedule Revision 2.0

Now that we're already in February, my race schedule is also looking more "firm"... In December, I was rather ambitious listing quite a bit of races. Since, then, I have had time to rethink my strategy. Mostly due to finances and of course, the physical limitations on my end! Ok, so here's revision 2.0 of my race schedule for 2009:

February 1: Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon - done!
March 1: Napa Valley Marathon - registered!
March 15: Emerald Across the Bay 12 K
April 26 : Big Sur Marathon (This one is still a maybe?)
May 30: Rnr San Diego Marathon - registered babeee!
July 19: Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon - registered
July 26: San Francisco Marathon (5th year in a row!!)
October 11: Chicago Marathon - registered yesterday!
October 18: Nike Women's Marathon (huge maybe)
December 6: California International Marathon

Training for the Napa Valley Marathon is well under way and I can't believe I have less than a month to go now! Starting last week, I've kicked it up a notch! I've started to incorporate one long run midweek and also doing 20 milers on my weekend long runs. This is what my runs have been looking like the past week:

Wednesday: 5 miles tempo @ 8:38 pace
Thursday: 10 miles @ 9:20 pace
Friday: 6 mile hill workout 9:58 pace
Saturday: Rest!
Sunday: KP Half 13.1 miles
Monday: Rest!
Tuesday: 8 miles @ 9:17 pace
Wednesday (today): 10 miles @ 9:32 pace

As for the rest of the week:
Thursday: 6 miles
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 20 miles
Sunday: 7 miles (For the 7 on 7th, we're doing it on Sunday!)

I am excited to hit 50+ miles this week! And, I've been feeling really good out there. I'm not looking to PR at Napa but I'm hoping for a good strong race.

Oh and last month, I ran 145 miles at about 9:30 min avg pace! Woohoooo! I definitely plan to exceed that mileage this month!

Now, leaving you with photos of my run today... Views of San Francisco from the East Bay!

One last note, I'm really behind on blog reading. I haven't forgotten you. I promise!!! (Thank you for coming back to read mine, really. I appreciate it very much.)

  28. Good times! That's still a TON of races!

I will be entering the lottery for Nike Women's Half. CIM is on the list at the moment but we'll see after SD. CIM would be great since my fam is there and we'd have a TON of crowd support.

I cannot imagine 50 miles in a week! Craziness! This week was a wash for me...too much work, not enough sleep, i.e. no exercise to speak of =(.

  29. Ooo Chicago, sounds like fun! I am glad you didn't cross SF off your list. Hope you have a good 20 miler today!

  30. I'll have to live vicariously through you! you are running so many wonderful races that I wanted to run this year but that darned husbands schedule didn't let that work out. I really wanted to do RnR in Seattle or San Diego but I guess it will have to wait=( I will be watching you FLY through them! Your miles and your times are great and I hope to inch my way down there someday. You will have a GREAT year!

  31. Good luck with all your runs! Great pics, can't wait to be there one day!

  32. I so want to run Chicago. I'm jealous.

  33. You and me both in being behind!

Looks like a big year and 50mpw is a great milestone...but no speedwork :(

    ReplyDelete
  34. Have you run the Big Sur Marathon before? I was out there last year and loved the area (obviously) and put that race on my "to do" list for someday. It looks like it would be very challenging though!

Maybe after I get my first marathon down in May, I can think about that one for next year...

  36. Hi Julianne, greetings from a fellow East Bay runner. I see we're doing some of the same races - KP, Emerald-ATB, Big Sur, SFM (probably). Nice pics. That was pretty cool, wating for your hubbie at the KP half. Good luck in Napa!
